A New Project

After a late night visit to the Hannants website I ended up placing an order for a few new kits and aftermarket items and this is one of the things I picked up. So as a second entry to the Britmodeller Helicopter Group Build I have decided to have a bash at building the Revell 1/72 UH-1D as a Luftwaffe SAR aircraft, I want to build as a hospital variant so the back is filled with stretchers etc.

I was going to use the Airwaves etch set that is in the picture but I have decided to keep the etch for another Huey I want to build as a Slick so I will keep the etch for now.

    Good afternoon,

I came across your great blog from my WordPress reader (oumilie.wordpress.com) and was wondering if you would be interested in becoming a book reviewer for Pen & Sword. We are based in South Yorkshire, UK and are the UK’s leading military history publishers.

We have a wide range of titles and I think you might be interested in some of our Flight Craft titles, and other modelling-type books.

Please have a look at our website for more information: http://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/, especially our aviation section: http://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/Pen-Sword-Aviation/i/1.

Let me know what you think,

If you’d like to contact me, please email digitalmarketing@pen-and-sword.co.uk,

      Hi Milly,

Thanks for the contact, reviewing books is not something I have ever thought about doing however I have to admit that the thought of offering reviews of books that can be used as resources of information for aircraft modellers is certainly interesting. I have had a look at your blog and if similar reviews to those you have written are what you are looking for I would think I should be able to produce them.

As this is something I have never considered before could you provide me with any other information you can with regards to what would be involved and your expectations with regards to timescales, numbers of reviews etc in order for me to judge if I would be able to make the necessary time commitments etc. I would like to point out however that my blog is still only a fledgling affair on WordPress, I usually blog through Tumblr (www.kitsandbits.tumblr.com) where the blog has a little more exposure in terms of followers etc, although I would still only describe it as a very small scale affair there too, and I am not sure if having cross platform content would pose any issues for you at all.

I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your initial contact.

To be honest, reviews are what you make them. We have some reviewers that write lengthy analysis, and others just write a paragraph! What we do is take your email address and then when new titles come in they are grouped into topic; aviation, world war two…. then based on the reviewer preference we profile them against the new books and send you a list. You get to choose what you would like to review from that list! Don’t worry about the number of followers on your blog or Tumblr! We take some of your review for the product on our webiste, and share really good ones on our social media platforms – so it will get seen! Cross platform content is no issue. Why don’t you email me @ digitalmarketing@pen-and-sword and I will get your details 🙂 Then see if I have any titles that you might be interested in started with!
