Well it’s come around quick, but this weekend see’s the Scottish National Scale Model Show return to The Dewars Centre in Perth.
This years show looks like being the biggest to date with 45 Traders and around 60 exhibitors across the two halls. It should be a fantastic weekend with plenty to see and buy.
Unfortunately I have nothing new to display this year as it’s now 12 months since a completion, something I intend to rectify as soon as possible but I will have a couple of my builds from last year on the IPMS Dundee tables and I am sure the show will provide its usual dose of inspiration and push me to get some more building done over the coming weeks.
If you have the chance to come along then please do, these shows simply wouldn’t happen without the support of the hobbyists, every one loves a bargain and with this many quality traders you are sure to find something to add to your stash. Also if you are not a member of your local model club shows like this also provide the perfect opportunity to see what clubs are all about, have a chat with some of the members and see if you think joining your local club might be for you.
Well it’s getting closer so I thought I would drop a quick post about the model show the club I am a member puts on each year, The East of Scotland Model Show.
This year we have had to move the venue for the show away from the Marryat Hall at the Caird Hall Complex and will be holding it at the venue we use for our club nights, The Boomerang Community Centre on Kemback Street in Dundee.
There will be the usual great mix model competition, tombola, traders and club displays just in a new venue. I believe the community centre are also running the cafeteria for us in the morning for rolls and refreshments, but there are no shortage of places to grab something to eat or drink just across the car park on Albert Street.
I hope the new venue doesn’t put people off, it’s a great little community centre ran by real salt of the earth people who do a lot for the local area of Stobswell. I myself am going to be stuck at work in Glasgow for most of the day unfortunately but I should make it along before the show ends with any luck.
Away from the show I am going to be posting infrequently over the coming few weeks, I am having some renovations done to my home that will mean the bench and my kits need packed away and moved for a while. I do still have a couple of completion photo sets to take for my Vampire and Seawolf builds, and I should have the Astute done in short order also so hopefully I will be able to get those posted up whilst the bench is out of action!
Well what a weekend! This years Scottish National Scale Model Show took place this weekend and what a show it was. This years show was held at its usual venue of the Dewars Centre in Perth and it was the largest model show in Scotland to date.
With approximately 67 exhibitors/demonstrators and 36 traders this puts the show up there amongst some of the biggest in the UK and is a fantastic achievement by the members of the committee who have grown the show into the event it is today.
There was some fantastic displays by clubs and exhibitors alike, the quality of the entrants into the competition this year was really high.
Above is a slideshow of some of my favourite models on display but there were so many fantastic builds on display the slide show last for hours had I included them all!
I will be posting more about the show soon, but I hope you enjoy the images in the mean time.
This weekend saw the annual East of Scotland Model Show put on by IPMS Dundee, which is the club I have recently joined. Unfortunately due to work commitments I was only able to attend for the last hour of the show but still there was plenty to see, a fantastic number of entries to the competition all of which were superb, the club displays from all the attending clubs were all top quality and there were of course plenty of temptations provided by the visiting vendors!
I didn’t grab many photos as arriving straight from work and in somewhat of a rush I only had my phone with me but these are some of my favourite builds from the show, hopefully next year I’ll be able to attend properly and get some builds in the competition myself.
